Almost 800 guests attended the annual Hr NETWORK National Awards 2015, which took place at the hugely impressive Hilton in Glasgow last night.

Set up in 2007 to recognise, acknowledge and reward the champions of Scottish HR across 16 awards, the Hr NETWORK awards is the biggest and most successful gathering of the HR profession in Scotland.

This years theme, a closely guarded secret each year which the orgainsers believe enhances the guests experience, was ‘Disney Animation’ complete with music from some of the biggest box office successes that Disney has produced and star explosions as part the table centres.

There were more than one wins for North Ayrshire Council (Employee Engagement Award of the Year and Best Workplace of the Year), Standard Life (Corporate Responsibility Award and HR Business Partner of the Year) and Scottish & Southern Energy (HR Manager and HR Director of the Year).

The new Lifetime Achievement Award of the Year, introduced for 2015, was won by Willma Tucker who retired in May 2015 following a distinguished career on both sides of the HR profession. Willma started her career as an HR practitioner in the financial services from the late 1970’s to mid 1990’s before moving across to the consultancy side of HR working with Coutts Career Counselling and latterly as market vice president for Scotland and Northern Ireland for Right Management, part of Manpower Group, until her retirement.

Commenting on the success of the 9th Hr NETWORK Awards for 2015, founder of Hr NETWORK magazine Lee Turner said: “The organisation for this years Gala Dinner began back as early as November 2014 when we concluded with last years dinner. It has been a privilege to be involved in the Awards so much more this year and the satisfaction the team and I have had from this years event has been one of the best experiences in the 9 years of the Awards.”
