Do you want to create and deliver the talent and development strategy for one of the UK’s leading renewable energy businesses?
ScottishPower is on a mission to revolutionise the UK’s approach to green energy and smart technologies. That future is already creating some interesting talent challenges. We need to recruit, retain and develop people who can lead the way to a greener future. Those business leaders will need to inspire trust, adapt quickly, manage change, encourage collaboration and empower their people to innovate and grow.
This is a brand new role within ScottishPower’s Strategic HR team to ensure we take a dynamic and collaborative approach to talent. You’ll be working closely with business leaders and HR colleagues to define a comprehensive talent and people development strategy that brings together talent identification, succession planning, people and leadership development and executive coaching.
You’re already a subject-matter expert in the talent development and leadership space, with excellent knowledge of tools, trends and emerging thinking. You have a strong background of working in an OD and talent leadership role within a complex organisation, and a track record of influencing senior leaders to deliver significant change. You’re adept at project management and a confident and compelling communicator. You’ve earned your stripes as an executive coach and can build strong relationships with senior teams.
You can expect your first few months to be a whirlwind of exploratory activity as you understand our current talent landscape. You’ll be meeting with senior leaders, and learning more about the talent challenges and priorities in each of our four business areas (Renewables, Networks, Retail and Corporate). You’ll also be able to assess the principles and frameworks that underpin our current approach – some of which are set at a Group level by our colleagues in our parent company, Iberdrola.
- Where we go from there will be up to you. There is no shortage of questions you’ll need to answer.
- What should be the principles and philosophy that define our talent and leadership strategy?
- How do we make sure our talent processes are clear, fair, and transparent?
- How to we ensure our future leaders are a diverse group, with different backgrounds and perspectives?
- What methodologies should we use to manage succession planning and how should we use the outputs of that process?
- How can we better evaluate the effectiveness of our leadership development programmes, and identify gaps in our provision?
- How can we best upskill our people with the critical strategic skills they will need in the next 10 years?
If these questions excite you, then you might be the person we need. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a challenging strategic talent and leadership development role, in an organisation that is fully committed to developing a greener future for everyone.
